OUTFREAKIN’ STANDING!!!!!! I have been looking for a way smarter aquaponic garden. Yes everyone should raise at least some of their own food. Homegrown tastes better!!

dude, nice but too complicated, on your new system..1st, plants dont need water to the top of gravel, they can wick it up from below..like half way to 2/3 gravel depth..just put a hole into barrel that drains slower than the barrel fills..ie. pump come on water goes up a few inches..pump goes off water drains out hole to fish tank..just adjust the pump timer to get the right depth of water..works great for me.:)

I know someone who owns property on a lake. He has a hard time growing plants on his property because the deer come and eat his plants. He also spends alot of time traveling since he is retired. Could it be possible to siphon water from the lake into an aquaponics tank like you have set up or would the high concentration of fish in the lake be too much for the plants?

I am so excited to hear about this!!!! Thanks for the information!!!

do you have to submerge the growing medium completely of could you get away with spraying the water directly to the roots?

also would an aquarium do the same job as a pond or would it be too sterile?

i bet your cat is loving the idea of more fish.

nice but if you wanted to stop the dry spot you could just set it up like and ebb and flow so if will cover all the space in the bed

actually a wind mill conversion kit will produce enough electricity to power the pump. also im not sure that a bell siphon will circulate the fish mulm back into the garden.

After the water is siphoned down, what triggers the hose to fill the container back up with water?

very cool hobby system. I hope your tilapia plans work out. From what I’ve read about commercial systems, it seems like 30 fish in that one barrell could support more greens. but then again, you did well with 2 goldfish. thanks for the video

Add a solar panel to power the pump. just my 50 cents.
