I would like to know the name / genus of the “grove” or “tree” at 0:17. It looks like an aspen grove or something. Wonderful images, thank you for sharing :)

impressive, some works of beauty, but it would be nice to know the genus names of each plant. I feel left in the dark. was hoping to both see beauty and learn something. had both elements been included, you would have warranted a 5-star rating. absolutely lovely collection though…well done.

the one at 3:14… SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

  18. lantzn - January 31st, 2009 at 10:28 pm

It’s a Japanese maple, not lace-leaf, just standard. You can reduce the size of a leaf to 1/4 of the original with regular pruning. This is why plants with small foliage are desired to begin with. You certainly would not want to use a canadian maple because the leaves are VERY large to begin with. Another popular maple is the Trident which has 3 prongs.

2:37 is my favorite. Really awesome work. I’m trying to start up this hobby and need some inspiration.
To answer your question imhotep, I saw a bonsai go for 1000 USD on ebay. Some of those trees can be 100 years old. But the fun part is making one yourself!
